Ingredients

  • 1 cup strong cold brew coffee (or cooled espresso)
  • 1 scoop vanilla protein powder(25-30g)
  • ½ cup milk of choice (almond, oat, dairy)
  • 1 teaspoon sweetener (optional)
  • ½ cup ice cubes
  • 1 Pinch of cinnamon (optional)

Equipment

  • 1 Blender or immersion blender
  • 1 Coffee maker or espresso machine
  • 1 Large glass or shaker bottle
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Ice cube tray (for iced version)

Method

  1. Prepare Your Coffee Base: Start with strong, cooled coffee. Cold brew works best, but you can use regular coffee that's been refrigerated. The stronger the coffee, the better it'll hold up against the protein powder.
  2. Add Protein Powder: Add your protein powder to the blender first. This prevents clumping and ensures smooth blending. Vanilla and chocolate flavors work best, but unflavoured is great if you want pure coffee flavor.
  3. Combine Liquids: Pour in your cold coffee and milk. The milk helps create that creamy, latte-like texture that makes this protein iced coffee so satisfying.
  4. Blend Until Smooth: Blend on high for 30-45 seconds until completely smooth and frothy. No one wants chalky protein bits in their morning fuel!
  5. Add Ice and Serve: Pour over ice in a tall glass. Give it a quick stir and enjoy immediately for the best texture and temperature.

Notes

Temperature & Texture Tips:
  • Always use cold or room temperature coffee - hot coffee will cause protein powder to clump and curdle
  • Blend for at least 30-45 seconds to achieve maximum smoothness and prevent chalky texture
  • Add protein powder to blender first, then liquids to minimize clumping
Flavor & Consistency:
  • Start with 1/2 scoop protein powder if you're new to proffee - you can always add more
  • Vanilla protein powder is the most versatile flavor that pairs well with any coffee type
  • Add a pinch of salt to enhance coffee flavor and reduce any artificial protein powder taste
Make-Ahead & Storage:
  • Prepare cold brew coffee in batches and store up to 1 week for quick proffee assembly
  • Pre-portion protein powder in small containers for grab-and-go convenience
  • Consume prepared proffee within 24 hours - shake well before drinking as separation is normal
Customization Hacks:
  • Use 1/4 frozen banana instead of ice for natural sweetness and creamier texture
  • Add 1 tsp instant coffee powder for extra caffeine boost without diluting flavor
  • Substitute half the milk with Greek yogurt for additional protein and probiotics
Troubleshooting:
  • If proffee tastes too thin, use less liquid or add ice gradually
  • For sweeter proffee without added sugars, try cinnamon, vanilla extract, or stevia
  • Blend plant-based protein powders longer than whey for optimal smoothness
